I broke out my 24×36″ canvas last night and got started on painting the background color on it. First chance I had at actually using my (relatively) newly acquired easel that can handle the larger canvases. I was excited by that! (Funny what one finds that can get one excited) Now I don’t have to hear hubby ask “Are you ever gonnna use that thing?!?”
Can’t wait to be able to get to work on the canvas again later today when I have a block of time to spend on it without getting distracted.
These are a couple of paintings I had finished last month, just got around to posting them now.
The sunflower is on a 12x12x1.5 gallery wrapped canvas, while the building is on a 16×20 canvas board
Last night as I was checking out things on the computer, I have decided what my next painting project will be. I have selected a 24×36″ canvas, gotten my reference photos ready & will break out my acrylics tomorrow to put a background color on to begin with.

I have been getting into doing more watercolors this summer than I have been doing in the past. Its a nice diversion from the acrylics that I work in most often, makes one look at how to paint a little differently.

This little painting is one I’ve done of a red bird in amongst birch trees in the winter time. Another 6×6 watercolor.

These are my latest two paintings. Grapes is a on 6×6 Gallery wrapped canvas (canvas edges are about an inch & a half wide), and the edges are painted. The inspiration came from visiting a local winery, Silver Fork in Morganton, NC. The grapes were almost ready for harvest, and just looked wonderful
With Banjo Player, I have always liked bluegrass music. There are a lot of good local bluegrass bands in this area of North Carolina. Just love the sound, and wanted to put it on canvas. This is on a 5×7 canvas board.

This is a limited palette acrylic painting. Limited palette is where you limit the amount of separate colors used to create a painting. In this case, I used only four separate colors (and combination of those four) to create the painting.
The painting is currently on exhibit at the Red House Gallery in Black Mountain, NC, from March 1 – April 30, 2013. It is framed in a cherry wood frame, and is for sale.
